Good asian food in Coral gables. In miami, there aren't many good asian restaurant especially thai restaurant. Good location in coral gables and price is acceptable in this expensive area. I love the spicy so i always ask for the spicy pepper. It makes my tougue hurt but awesome. I always have padthai with beef and curry. Portion looks small but when u started to eat,you will find out its not small portion. Their thai donut is okay. When we order some beer, they served frozen glass!! Changed to new frozen glass everytime we order new beer. Service is good too.i like it.

What this place lacks in decor, it makes up for in its food and service. Excellent curry chicken - prob the best I've had!

Delicious seafood curry! Service and venue aren't that amazing, but the food is good. Pad Thai was also great.

I nice place to grab a bite to eat in Coral Gables. The food is good. Not spectacular but good. Had the lunch special. Curry Tofu with brown rice. Came with a side salad and an egg roll. The salad was basic, the salad dressing was peanut sauce. Pretty sweet and thick. I liked it. The egg roll was very hot and crunchy. No complaints there. Not too greasy. The Curry Tofu was very good. There were potatoes, broccoli, pineapples and green peppers in the red curry broth. Very nice. Had to have the waiter bring the hot sauce pots as it wasn't very spicy though. Had Iced tea, for the sum of 17.00 before tip. I would probably return for lunch.

Solid Thai place which has been around forever. I remember going here as a kid and never understanding what crazy person would order #5 spicy. Eventually, I became the crazy guy ordering #5. It's spicy and tasty. The service and interior could use some work. But the food is great tasting and great quality. I really like their lunch selection, and going during Giralda under the starts.

Thai is one of my favorite cuisines and this place is subpar. It has a very cute ambience with floor seatings as well as regular tables. But the food was not good. Their pad thai does not have the right flavor, I think they used fish sauce because it smelled and tasted like it, too much.... Their curries weren't good either, just liquidy and not enough flavor. Their donut dessert was literally just dough...and the sauce is condensed milk, and it was $$. Overall, I wasn't impressed with the food and the price was steep for Thai food. Service was super slow too, from taking our order to food coming out and getting the check... The only thing I enjoyed was my thai iced tea, but then how can you go wrong with that?

Based on this restaurant I can't believe they have two locations and are still in business. We came based on a 3.5 yelp score ignoring a couple of nearby alternatives. On tonight's tasting it's obvious most of the reviewers have never tried authentic Thai. The menu is limited and the approach to spice limiting. It has a 2009 Zagat rating which should have been a warning. First off, I get that they feel the need to direct the cooking towards a different palette but there was no evidence that the chef understood how to spice a meal. There wasn't a Thai flavor to be found in either of the soup starters. The Tom Kha Goong was overly sweet; almost as if coconut milk had been substituted for condensed milk. It's impossible to describe how off this was. Oh my heart cried out for Bangkok City nights and street soup vendors. The beef Larb lacked the tangy, bitterness that contrasts so well with mint, fish sauce and Thai peppers or chilies. There was a complete absence of zest or deeper layers - no heat, no bitter lemony highs or cooling cabbage moments. It was just bland and a sensory disappointment. The Gang Garee was as far removed from a true red curry as I have experienced or can imagine. Once again exceptionally sweet, overpowered by pineapple and coconut. Were we secretly eating dessert or had the drop cooked chicken in a daiquiri? It certainly wasn't a Thai curry; lacking any depth, heat or spicy subtlety. So disappointed.

I'm a regular fan of this place. It is very close to work and I usually go there to pick up seafood curry or pad Thai. The lunch specials include soup or salad and are the portions are generous. The food is usually very good and the staff is always nice. I recommend this place if you like Thai food and are in the Gables area.

I have been meaning to check this place out for a loooong time. Its been recommended several times... sadly I cannot share the enthusiasm. The restaurant is located on Giralda, which is an excellent location. The atmosphere is ok but part of the restaurant smells a bit.. humid.... I liked sitting on the floor. No 5 star accommodations but good enough. The food was a dissapointment. The spring rolls are not fresh... in fact it wouldn't surprise me if they are the same they sell refrigerated at your local supermarket. The Pad Thai is NOT the best in Miami. NOT EVEN CLOSE (go to hy vong or khong riverhouse). The duck was very good but again not as good as the one found on the 2 restaurants I just mentioned. Thai donuts were average at best. Prices are ok. Extra points for accepting prime card. Service? Top notch. Will I come back? Unlikely... id much rather go to Khong or Hy Vong to get my vietnamese/thai fix.

It's a good thai restaurant. I travel frequently to Thailand and I found a big difference but I can imagine that maybe they can't find all the ingredients needed. I ordered a Tom yam Kung and It was not really as the original one. A couple of floating mushrooms and a few shrimps. The spicy used is definitely not the original one. The noodles were good. They didn't have the mango with sticky rice, a pity. I still recommend this Restaurant. Thanks

A friend and I came here for dinner on a Saturday evening. A-OK is what 3 stars on Yelp denotes, and that's pretty much what this restaurant deserved on this night. We both liked it, didn't love it, and I think we were both of the mind that there are so many other dining options on this street and the several blocks surrounding it that there are many other places we'd rather try vs. returning here again soon. We arrived at around 8 p.m. and were seated right away in the secondary dining area, which is adjacent to the room where the main entrance is located. Initially when we first walked in I noticed the place was eerily quiet, save for some of the patrons chatting away at a low level; when they led us into the dining space where we were seated they did have some music playing in there (which could be heard along with the humming of the window mounted A/C unit that sticks out of the wall). The music selection on this night was a mixture of pop music and 80s. A little different and maybe unexpected for a Thai restaurant, but OK... The décor in the space where we were seated was a bit minimalistic; Basically wood paneled walls with some raised wooden slats every few feet, and a few decorative wall features created from the same wood as the wall panels so they kind of blended in, but otherwise, pretty plain-Jane. The menu was a bit limited...While they had several different types of dishes, the variety of each type wasn't as great as I'd seen on the menus of many other Asian restaurants. As others have commented, the prices here also tend to be a bit high, but it should also be noted that the size of the portions were quite large. We ordered the Thai chicken salad as an appetizer to share. My dining companion was a bit surprised it didn't contain more ingredients, as it was simply a mound of chopped iceberg lettuce, 3 half slices of tomato, 3 slices of cucumber, 2 relatively small pieces of chicken, and of course, the peanut sauce/dressing. He ordered the Earth, Wind and Fire (chicken, steak and shrimp), and I ordered their yellow curry with beef. Both of us were happy with our food. Do note that they'll bring a large bowl with rice and give you a few scoops of it at the beginning of your meal. If you wish for more rice a bit later, you'll need to request them to return and give you a few more scoops, and they'll happily accommodate. Along with our meals, my friend ordered a Thai iced tea, I had a soft drink (which are served in cans, no fountain sodas here). The bill for everything was $55 before gratuity.

The worse ever! I have been coming here on and off for years, today's experience sealed the deal of no return for me and my colleagues. The curry was watery and tasteless, the service horrible beyond repair. Definitely locating a new Thai restaurant in the Gables as replacement ASAP.

I got the pepper steak. Taste was alright. But the portions are way too small. My two friends ordered pad Thai chicken and had to return it, they said it tasted like fish. With tip and tax I spent $15, still hungry though. The menu we found for this place online is wrong. Our server said they don't have an online menu, we had trouble believing that, but I'll give the benefit of the doubt.

While the star rating make this place pretty mediocre, that's not to say that they don't have food that excels. The service also is good although the kitchen backroom service seems to be a bit slow. On the last two occasions I have been here in the past week, our food took forever to come out, even after the appetizers came out timely. I had tried the "lean" crab wonton and found them a bit too cheese-creamy to my liking, and filled with imitation crab, not the real thing, although the thin wrappers were perfectly crisp and thin. The beef panang curry was ok, with the curry tasting good but the beef having plenty of potential of being better. The chicken massaman curry was a hit the first time, and a miss a second time - although I much preferred the panang curry base. The reason why it missed was because the quality of the chicken was subpar the second time, tasting old or flavorless. But I did have one curry dish that I thought was phenomenal - the duck curry. The duck, which had the skin on, had the right flavor profile and the curry base of gang garee was my favorite of the three I tried. I would have rated this place better if this was the only thing I tried. The only negative about this dish is that it was pretty much a good $20 in sticker shock, which I think is a bit too much and is the most expensive of all curry dishes they had. But then my pet peeve happened - to substitute white rice for brown rice, there was a charge of $1.50 for a small bowl of such rice that I still had leftover curry sauce. And comparing with the free white rice bowl that came out for those who didn't request a substitution, the white rice was much more plentiful so I felt that they were stingy with the brown rice while charging premium for it. Not cool. So, all in all, I can only recommend the pricey duck curry, or gamble on the meat quality of chicken or beef in a gang garee curry. Or try out a different appetizer like the mee krob and the house specialty dishes that seemed delicious and got good raves at my table, the name that tune (beef) and special earth, wind, fire (beef, chicken and shrimp). Or just order the cheaper pad Thai and save the rest of the money for some other place.

I come to Bangkok pretty regularly for lunch with my coworkers. It's a small place, maybe 10 tables. They have a lunch menu with about 20 options on it, so plenty to choose from. They have great service and get you in and out quickly. I always order the Stir Fry Beef lunch special. All specials come with rice and you have the option of soup or salad to start. I've about had the salad so I don't know the soup options. The salad is a small side salad comprised of iceberg, shaved carrots, cucumber, and thick sweet peanut dressing. The dressing is delicious, it's a simple salad. I always take the option to get brown rice which I really appreciate. They give you a very healthy serving of your dish along with plenty of rice and a spring roll. It's not noted on the menu but you can tell your server how spicy you want your dish on a scale from 1-5, 5 being the spiciest. I've been to other Asian restaurants that are scared to spice up my dish no matter how much I tell them I like spice. Bangkok does a pretty decent job, the 5 definitely has some kick to it. The lunch specials range from about $12-14 and I always leave full and satisfied. Nothing has ever been greasy and the portions are great. With a tea and tip you're in about $20 but at least I go back to work full and happy unlike many of the other places in the Gables charging the same prices or more.

First just want to say I can't for the life of me understand the 3.5 star rating for this place because it is fantastic! On top of the wonderful food, the staff is not only attentive but genuinely kind and caring. I've been coming to Bangkok Bangkok since I was a child (back then I called it "Thai Sit-on-the-Floor) and I was always so excited to come back. Basically, the quality has been excellent here for at least 20 years--how many restaurants do you know that can say that? Anyway, since I've never had a less than fantastic meal here, I thought it would be the perfect choice for my boyfriend's birthday dinner this weekend. The staff was so wonderful and accommodating from the moment I called to book a party of 15 (something many restaurants cringe at). They even let me bring my own cake! The dinner was fantastic. They had us set up in our own room at the back. They separated the bills from the beginning and never hassled us about it. Despite the many appetizers and dinner needed to be prepared at once, we didn't have to wait a long time for any course. Once the entree was cleared, they even turned out the lights in the room when they brought in the cake (with candles lit) to sing happy birthday. If you can't already tell, the night was perfectly magical, just like you always hope these big dinners will be (though they so rarely are). Even more wonderful was the fact that the servers were genuinely concerned about my boyfriend having a great birthday there and so excited to see that he did! It made me feel so grateful to them for more than just the amazing food... As for that FOOD--My boyfriend and I split the pad thai appetizer, beef satay and gang gharee curry. All 3 were delicious. I was particularly fond of the satay: It comes on its own little grill that gives it a nice extra char, and comes with a really yummy creamy peanut sauce. My boyfriend, not usually one to get overly excited about food, continues to rave about the curry as the best he's ever had. Note, they are serious about their spice! I went with the 3 out of 5 and thought it was perfect but it had a definite kick. Can't speak to the dessert from this night since we had our own cake, but I have had their Thai Donuts in the past, and no other has ever compared to them. Amazing! Bottom line: The best Thai in town in a charming, cozy environment with a really fantastically helpful and kind staff. You can't go wrong!

This has been my favorite Thai restaurant ever since I stated going during undergrad more than a decade ago. I went as often as I could back then, but moved away after graduation and have had a hankering for it ever since. This past winter, I was down in Miami again for the first time in a long time, and The Wife and I stopped in for lunch. It's still just as amazing as I remembered for all those years. The Wife, who loves Thai food, had never been to this restaurant before, but fell in love with it after just her first bite of food.

Cute place! Love that they have seating on the floor... Makes it very relaxing and romantic. I tried their papaya salad (shredded green papaya, tomatoes, carrots, shredded peanuts, shrimp & lime dressing) it was so yummy! Try the chicken gyoza (fried pot sticker dumplings). Their Pad Thai dinner is good too!! Also try their Thai beers Chang and Singha.

Unfortunately, this restaurant is under new ownership and although I have tried to go back several times out of both habit and lovely memories of what it used to be, I can no longer say I love or even like their pad Thai. They have changed how they make it and now you have to choose between chicken or shrimp it no longer comes with both. The service is still wonderful and the fried rice is still consistently great, I just don't order the pad Thai anymore.

Very soothing and calm atmosphere, they have a floor section where you can chose to sit on the carpet or dine on a table. I always chose carper since its something out of the daily routine. Their Earth wind and fire is great, I love their Thai donuts!!!!!

My friend and I went for lunch and what a disappointment! My friend ordered the Beef Stir fry and they served her a chicken dish. When they brought what she had ordered it tasted awful. I ordered the Shrimp with cashew nuts, and after tasting it had to send it back because the shrimp had a funky taste. I will never come back!!

4 star food with 1 star service. My wife and I ended up here after open table cancelled our reservation at another restaurant on Valentine's Day. The staff was nice and the food came out timely, but my wife was never offered a second glass of wine and our water glasses sat empty for at least 30 minutes and we waited 15 minutes or more for our check. If you order a specialty plate and soups or appetizers, you may want to split it. The servings sizes were large. Also try this place on a less popular night as they appeared to be under staffed on the night we went.

Best thai in town. I go to this place at least once a month. Their curries are amazing. Their pad thai is better than any other pad thai in Miami. I've tried many other thais in Miami and this is the best. Their service is also very good, they are quick to serve and fill your cup promptly multiple times.

It's my first time here and I loved it! I tried the vegetable curry plate, and it was delicious! My aunt had the Pad Thai, and it was delicious as well. The restaurant seemed really clean, nice view of the street, and the service was excellent. I know it has nothing to do with the review, but I loved the music, it went from the Beatles, to Elton John and frank Sinatra. Anyway, if you like Thai good and you're in the coral gables area, you should give it a try!

  • John M.

For skinny dudes there is not enough cushion on the floor so you may want to opt for a regular chair. You'll have to forgo the full experience but that may be a good thing and your back side will thank you for it. Other than that the food is great. Try a Thai beer. The curry was delicious.

This is by far the best Thai restaurant in Coral Gables. Service is impecable. Food taste delicious, specially the Tom Kha Gai. Roasted duck is my favorite. Prices are not that cheap but it's worth it.

Walking around the Gables the other night searching for some delicious food, my boyfriend and I stumbled across Bangkok Bangkok. The restaurant was bustling for a Tuesday night around 6ish, which I took as a good sign. The service is very quick, and attentive. The servers move quickly, and are always on top of refilling your water. My boyfriend ordered the "Earth, Wind and Fire" after reading the recommendations on yelp. His dish was surrounded by tinfoil in the shape of a swan, I liked that, I felt like I was on a cruise. The dish was tasty, and lived up to the recommendations. I ordered the massaman curry, which was delicious. The portions were a good size, we both took some food home to go. I would definitely come back to this restaurant for some great thai food.

Pad thai galore! I came here for a friend's birthday, and I must say that I loved their pad thai. It may have been because I am a novice to Thai food culture, but their pad thai was savory and hearty. I would probably come here again just to try their pad thai. And the adventure continues...

Best pad Thai in town!!!! My favorite place for Thai in Miami. I always get their pad Thai, Thai salad (love the peanut dressing) and tum yum soup (also a favorite). The atmosphere is intimate, perfect for a date or quiet evening.

I ordered the pad thai dinner size and it was just enough for two people to get full off, not the biggest portion but not wasteful either. The pad thai was delicious! I can't wait to try more from this restaurant

Went here a few evenings ago. Nice place, nice staff. I chose this place because of the Yelp rating. Food was ok, average in every regard. And they were out of the saki and the beer I wanted, and offered no apology.... So I'm at a loss to explain the spectacular rating. Everything was overly sweet, no spice (I asked for spicy). No mix of flavors.

Where to start with this place.... to begin with, we never got any napkins or utensils. When I asked if we can get napkins, the waiter says "um..." and looks around if it us so proposterous to give us napkins. We then got our food, where I got soup, and steak. The soup tasted good at first because it was different. I am not sure exactly how to describe it, but suddenly it just started tasting weird. Then, the steak was really hard, almost like it wasn't even really steak. (Hm.....) keep in mind, that I went during my 1 hour lunch break. How long was it from when my waiter served us until we saw him?? 1 hour. We actually had to flag down someone after numerous attempts of them ignoring us. FINALLY when we paid, I was in a party of 5, and it was a huge ordeal. The lady said that I signed for the wrong bill, so voided all of our bills to redo everything again. And it ended up being that she voided it for no reason. The staff was so rude, also. Wanna know how much I tipped?? A big, fat goosegg!

When I lived in Miami I used to come here and it was great now it seems to still be good but it has fallen. I didn't see any Thai people which makes me wonder if the place has been sold to some other people? Who knows Miami is always slightly shady. I had the Prawns which were 6 big shrimps for almost 20 dollars. It used to be better. The glass noodles and duck were very good but the place seems to lack luster and has not entered the new century very well. There are far better Thai places in the area that serve more and cost less.

This is the best thai I've found in Coral Gables. I always get their seven delights, which is a delicious stir fry vegetable dish. Their pad thai is great too, and the papaya salad is so refreshing! If you eat there you have the option to sit on pillows on the floor at a low rise table which is an awesome relaxing experience.

What has happened to this place? We have gone to both this location as well as the Kendall one for over twenty years, yesterday was my last time at the Gables Bangkok Bangkok. My favorite dish, Neptune Nemesis was a far cry from what it used to be, I have never seen Thai food with tomato sauce spread on top of a fried snapper and they call it sweet and sour sauce. The fried rice was not fresh, rubbery calamary, even the thai donuts were old, the dough was hard and had a taste like it had been refrigerated for some time. The only thing that was somewhat like in the past were the spring rolls, but that alone is not worth $60 that our dinner cost.

Cannot say enough good things about this place! We were both in love with everything we ate and we are a tough Thai crowd - very critical. Portions were great, prices fair, everything fresh and hot. Service was amazing - very friendly, attentive and knowledgable staff. Pad Thai was amazing, agree with the other reviewers - the chicken was moist and flavorful, which is not so common! All of the flavors were unique and fresh - very pleasing and not too overpowering. Also - one of the cleanest bathrooms I have ever seen! Good Thai is not easy to find around Miami - we recommend this place 100%!

I have been to Bangkok Bangkok several times for both lunch and dinner, and have always been quite pleased. I enjoy that you can choose to sit on the cushions if you'd like. Lunch is fairly priced and the portions are ideal for the average person; the quality of the food has always been up to my expectations. Dinner is equally good with prices being a litte bit higher. Overall this is a good option if you live/work in the Coral Gables area, parking can be a little bit difficult but I still enjoy the service and the food.

Actually 4.5 if half points were possible. During my week long trip, I craved something spicy and this placed did the trick. One of the best thai ive had in the country - green curry was flavorful but not heavy. Spicy chicken dish was also amazing. Quiet atmosphere, clean, good service and plenty of street parking in the front. Such a fortuitous find.

I was a little wary of the mediocre reviews of this little Gables spot, but it being Christmas - Asian food was on the agenda, and Thai sounded like a cozy choice. The location's proximity was another high note - easy parking on a familiar Gables street. Decked out in Santa hats, the staff was quiet and polite. The atmosphere warm, with an area reserved for floor seating (next time, I'm SO in for this) and an area with regular tables. My madre and I ordered a salad with peanut dressing as an app. Peanut sauce tops the short list of my most favorite food items. I could drink the stuff, and this one was particularly delicious. For dinner, I ordered a the massaman curry with tofu, which I was told was the sweetest of the bunch - and mild, for my sensitive little taste buds. It was PHENOMENAL. Seriously - some of the best I've ever had. So sweet, so creamy, so full of flavor. My mom loved her spicy curry choice as well. After the success of this meal, I'm left wondering why I don't take up with Thai eateries more often. I'm glad my Christmas night ended on a palate-pleasing high note.

Realizing immediately at the John Martin's block party that we weren't in the mood for drunken revelers, we decided to walk around and find a place with some good food and just celebrate St. Patrick's day in a more relaxed manner. We saw Bangkok Bangkok ll and figured that Thai sounded like a good idea. It was. The curry was good, the food abundant and it had a nice ambiance. The service was good from some employees but really not good from one particular individual. All in all it was a good experience, I don't think I will be knocking myself out to go back though.

One of my favorite restaurants near Miracle Mile. The owners and staff are very friendly and the service is excellent. I'd consider myself a regular here, and I've never had a bad meal. They're also very accommodating to vegans. My favorite dishes include the red curry with tofu and any of their tom yum soups without meat. Bring a date and grab a seat on the left side of the restaurant where guests can sit on the floor at the low-top tables.

I said I do not care this is a restaurant !! From now this restaurant is out of my list and I'll write a letter to the agency regulate restaurant with cockroach !! Bad for the owner he did not care he just care the money where we pay $61 for only 20 min after cockroaches got on the table next to my food !!

I've been a regular here for years and can't think of a meal that's been less than great. They have an $8-$10 lunch menu and a huge main menu full of flavorful choices. Dinner can get a little pricey and parking in the area is tough but I'd definite recommend. Ask for the Special Earth, Wind and Fire with your preferred level of spiciness and a cold Singha. You can't go wrong.

Like to dine on the floor? Part of the magic of Bangkok Bangkok II is to partake in the cozy sitting area with decorative pillows and a very low-lying table on a raised platform. There is even a place to set down your shoes. Unless my guests decline, this is where I go! Lunches are done well here, as they cater to the Gables executive crowd. They offer a lunch plate that brings a soup, salad, and a roll to accompany your selection at a price of $10 or less. The dining room is draped with white tablecloths for an upscale experience. I recommend the curries, pad thai, peanut sauce, & ginger dressing. Can't go wrong with traditional Thai! Parking is tricky. The metered spaces on the street are limited, and/or require plenty of loose change. There is a small lot behind the restaurant which is accessible by looking for a hidden driveway adjacent to the building. Call for more specific instructions in finding it.

Great food, good service and a classy atmosphere. My Fiancé and I stopped here on the way to the Gables Art Cinema for dinner on a Saturday night. There was no wait at 7:30, and the service was prompt. I had a delicious Duck Curry and she had a Chicken Pad Thai. Quibbles: The wine selection was limited. You had to request the spice tray, they really should be provided at all the tables. Also, I asked for 4 star spice on the Duck Curry, but only got 2.

I have walked by this restaurant countless times, as it's on the main restaurant drag in the Gables, but never stopped in. Boy, I am glad I finally tried it last night; the food was amazing and and the service was good, too. I ordered the Seafood Pad Thai at the staff's suggestion; it was everything Pad Thai should be. The seafood was tasty, not fishy. Although, I wish the tail would have been removed from the shrimp. My dinner companions ordered the Duck Curry and Tofu Volcano. The curry was flavorful, but not overpowering and the duck was crispy with the skin on. I did not try the Tofu, but it was huge with tons of veggies. Overall, the portions were generous (there are left overs in the fridge), the prices were reasonable (especially for the Gables- 3 entrees, sake and a tip for less than $70) and decent service. The restaurant also does take-out. I can't wait to try that. The Gables desperately needs better cheap, take-out options.

Had not been here for years and was not disappointed. Great food and service. Took some friends from out of town and they loved it as well. Order the Bangkok Rice Noodles, even the ribs were great. Nice friendly atmosphere.

The absolute BEST Thai food I've ever had (next to my trip to Thailand). Although it is a bit pricey, it's like the old saying goes, "you get what you pay for" and every time we go it continuously is impressive. Whether take out or dining in, this restaurant exceeds all expectations, service and food related. It has been in Coral Gables nearly 30 years. Damn! It's so good, I may have to go back today.

The food was fantastic! I even enjoyed their house beer "Chang" it was surprisingly good. It's in a nice location, service was very fast and they were good on checking up on us every so often. Will definitely be going back. I just wish they were open later, so we didn't have to get kicked out! We were having to much of a good time. lol.

I love this place! It is one of the only places I miss now that we live in the beach! We got here around 6:15 and they were just opening, we got a table right in front of the big windows, perfect for people watching. We ordered the chicken coconut soup, spring rolls, roasted duck and pad Thai. This is honestly some of the best Thai food I've ever had, I drive all the way from Miami Beach just for the duck and pad Thai! The service flip flops between hit & miss depending on the time & day you go but it's never been overly terrible. Overall this is the place I'd recommend for amazing Thai food, and the location near Miracle Mile is great too.

My husband and I went to Bangkok Bangkok II for dinner recently. The first thing I noticed was the lack of vegetarian options. I am a vegetarian and I love going to Thai places because they are usually really good about proving different dishes with tofu instead of meat and they have a lot of options. Here, I only saw three: vegetable fried rice, volcano tofu, and "seven delights" (a vegetable dish). We asked the server, who was great, about the vegetarian options and he told us that some dishes could be done with tofu. I ordered the volcano tofu, which came with a supposedly spicy sauce and some veggies. My husband ordered the "Kiss Me" stir fry dish with Tofu and he substituted the broccoli and cauliflower for bell peppers. Both of our dishes were very bland. I mean VERY bland. My spicy dish was devoid of almost all spice. The sauce was SWEET, not spicy at all. My husband's dish was very bland as well, even though it was supposed to have pepper and a garlic sauce. We doused our food in their very strong soy sauce and that made it taste ok, but not good. Bottom line: Good, knowledgeable server, nice, quiet atmosphere, but less than impressive food and a serious lack of taste. We are not going back. Lotus Garden, on Miracle Mile, is a much better place for Thai food at a comparable price and it offers a much better vegetarian selection.

i am certainly no expert on THAI food, but i really like this place. i've had 2 visits and both were pleasant in terms of food and service. what i had: mee krob- crunchy little sweet noodles that are so good and nothing like i've ever had before. the beef satay- just ok...the peanut sauce is the magic topping. the entrée-- the bangkok fried rice... it was awesome! it was filled with meats (chicken, shrimp, crab) and it was full of flavor. parking in the gables is a pain in the ass, that's the only problem when coming to eat here. but you'll find something...eventually!

Go here for lunch and the lunch specials are fantastic. Great prices, great selecation, and pretty quick! Have been there for dinner as well but more of a lunch place for me...decor is not too inviting for a nice dinner. I usually get the stir fry beef which is good and loaded with onions. The Thai donuts are awesome!

I've been to this restaurant a couple of time. I usually get Sum Young Gai or the Earth Wind and Fire, they're pretty good. The Bangkok Bangkok Fried rice was okay I wouldn't get it again, id try their other fried rice. The Pad Thai was really good. The last time I went I got take out and they didn't put any soy sauce or that other sweet sauce for my spring rolls which I didn't like very much (noticed when I got home). They didn't include any napkins or plastic forks..make sure to ask for them the next time you visit.

Want lips like Angelina Jolie's? Try the jumping squid, ask for very spicy and feel your lips grow!!! Food is good, very good, you won't be disappointed. Service is good too. Good, fast and cheap Thai food. Don't leave without trying the donuts, uhmmm, so good! There's a reason why they've been there for nearly 30 years...

My boyfriend and I were craving some kind of asian food. I'm not a fan of sushi maki and su shin izakaya was closed so we decided to come here. There was only one other table of people, so we were iffy at first, but the menu has really funny names like "kiss me chicken". Another funny part was in the back of the menu where they explain the levels of spicyness. The food spoke for itself. It was one of the better thai restaurants that we've been to so we will probably go back again.

So you are walking down Giralda and you see that Bar and Archie's a full, and we spot Bangkok Bangkok and it looks quiet and fairly empty. We had been subjected to some sensory overload so a quiet place looked enticing. Wrong !!! I must conclude that there is a pretty good reason why this place is pleasantly empty while other establishments are brimming in the vicinity - I can't really give it a negative review, hence the 3 stars but I am not exactly a fan, In fact, it is safe to say that I will not be returning any time soon. The food was good in, but the inconsistent service was really annoying. The waiter has a rotten attitude to which I respectfully suggest that he finds another gig because his negative demeanor is not cute at all, having said that some of the other servers where quite pleasant and attentive. I had the Earth, wind and fire dish, and it hit the spot, can't really hold anything against the food, but in this day and age, I find that I am more demanding with my cash and therefore, value and quality are extremely important. I did not feel like got either here. Just an average experience. Moving right along .....

Just had lunch there today and my experience was not bad at all, maybe because there was only 1 other table eating at the time. The service was good but again, it was really empty. It's very quiet, the music will put you to sleep, the menu is pretty well laid out and reasonably priced for Coral Gables. The food was great, and the portions were large. Although I had a good experience, I feel like this place needs some life injected to it! I was bored during the whole meal, even having conversations with my friends. It was library quiet. Management needs to do something to get people in there, because I feel like they have a lot of potential. The have the food part down pretty good, but something else is missing. It needs LIFE! Maybe a 2 for 1 deal would hype things up... or hot waiters, lol. I wish them the best of luck, but I'd like to try other Thai places before coming back here. This place felt like a senior citizen kind of joint, and that's not my cup of thai iced tea!

Consistently good food keeps me coming back. Whether I've gone for lunch or dinner, eat in or take out, the food has always been consistently good. They have good size portions, a good selection of dishes (only think I wish they would add to the menu is Green Papaya Salad), and the Pad Thai is especially good. Reading some of the other comments I guess I have been fortunate because so far I have always gotten good service. The restaurant décor is a little dated but quaint, and the floor sitting area is a cool touch. All and all a nice place to go have lunch or dinner if you're in the area.

  • Paula E.

I'm going to have to agree with most of the reviews. This place is eh. I went for the staple Thai dishes and started with a Tom Kha Gai (coconut milk and lemongrass soup) with veggies. It was good in flavor, but the consistency of the soup was too thick. I'm used to this dish being a bit milkier yes, but not to the point where I felt as though I was having a salty dessert before my meal. I opted for the appetizer Pad Thai and replaced the meat for fried tofu (following Effie C's review), and honestly you cant really mess up this dish, so it wasn't bad. But I felt like it lacked some pizazz., maybe it was the fact that it hardly had any cilantro or lime (I feel like those and peanuts are the key ingredients to a good Pad Thai). I paid around $14 bucks for this meal, and I cant really say that I had my moneys' worth. I heard it has a decently prized lunch menu, so if I worked around the area perhaps I can see myself going again. But there are better Thai places in Miami, I wouldn't go out of my way.

I didn't get to eat here, although the atmosphere seemed really nice inside, and they give you the option to sit on the floor or at a table. However, my friend and I opted for take out. I ordered the Pad Thai of course with white rice. It was pretty good, but not the best I've had a little pricier then the one on Bird Road. This one was about $15.00. The noodles are a bit thinner then in most places which was nice, but I just didn't feel like it was so much better then the other ones I've tried. It was just A-OK in my book. I don't think I would go here again only because you have to pay for parking since you are in the Gables and it's easier for me to go to the one on Bird Road plus I think the Pad Thai there is a bit better and I can get sushi at the same time if I wanted to. Here at this location they don't have sushi. It was nice to give it a try though, you should definitely try it if you are in the area, they have tons of other choices to choose from.

this is right down the street from my office and i never go bc im completely grossed out by it. i absolutely loove thai food but this place is down right dirty. last time i ate there, about a year ago, i found a hair in my peanut salad dressing. the restaurant is so outdated and gloomy. the entrance area where you wait to be seated you can actually see a film of dust on the banister and figurines they have everywhere. the gables really is in desperate need of a great thai restaurant!!

Fantastic Thai! The food is as fresh as it gets. It was not simmering in a pot from the morning. I could taste the distinctness of every single vegetable. The Tom Kha Gai soup was excellent.

I'm pretty loyal to Siam Lotus Room in South Miami, so I wasn't too excited to be eating someone else's Thai. With that said, I thought Bangkok Bangkok was quite good. My meal was overly sexy (I ordered the massaman curry) and the service was good. They also have an area for sitting on the floor for those with knees better than me. The thing I liked best about this place is their beer selection. They're the ONLY place in South Florida that serves Chang. Not to overhype it, but it's probably the best thing in the history of the world. I drank it for months in Thailand and still wake up screaming its name.

This place has great Thai food, I've been coming to this restaurant since I was a little kid. I remember the excitement of sitting on the floor to eat. There food has stayed the same, I love ordering my dishes on a level 5, making them really spicy

Thai restaurants are kind of like pizza joints in that you have your one reliable place and once you find it you rarely go anywhere else. For me, Bangkok Bangkok II is my reliable Thai place. I've been there numerous times for dinner and have always left happy. They serve a mean Pad Thai and Mee Krob, and for my money, the Gang Garee Chicken Curry is the best dish they have. The portions are big enough that I almost always have enough for lunch the next day. I always get a Thai Iced Tea which fulfills my sugar requirements for the month. They do have the option of sitting on the "floor" in what I suppose is the traditional Thai dining experience. If you're like me, you won't be able to keep sit cross-legged for more than 60 seconds at a time, making this slightly less fun that it should be (though my girlfriend always wants to sit up there). Overall, it's a solid Thai food restaurant. I haven't experienced any of the "cleanliness" problems that some of the other reviewers complained of and until I do, I'll keep going back.

My boyfriend was reluctant to try this place because he had always been to Siam Palace. Siam Palace wins! However, the service was good and the food here isn't bad. It's quite decent for the price and I wouldn't mind coming here again. What they do have that Siam Palace doesn't is a eating area where you can eat on the floor. The tables in this area are very low and you have to take off your shoes to be able to sit here. But that's a cool feature.

Ok so decided to do something different and have a mellow sat night so thai food it was. It was just - eh - started w fried tofu which tasted more like fried cardboard followed by pad thai, fried rice andthe sp3 beef house specialty. The pad thai was quite good and rice was ok. This is why igave it an overall - eh review. Mostly cuz my belly wasn't happy all night :(

so this was my first thai restaurant i've tried in Miami. I sat on the floor seating area which was pretty cool. Just the back pillows really are for you to be very reclined. The food was good, not the best by far, but good. What I did like about the place is that they ask you how spicy you want the food, from 1 - 5. I personally wouldn't order anything greater than 3 otherwise it can get very spicy. as far as the decor, it is a little tacky, just needs to be updated. Plus it's one of those thai places, that don't leave the rice on the table, just serve you from the communal bowl.

We used to go to Bangkok Bangkok in Coral Gables when we were young and poor. Had not been there in over 10 years, but, yesterday, as a spur of the moment thing, went in. Horrible!!!!! Horrible!!!!! I wanted to walk out immediately, but my wife would not let me. The lights were "Stalag" quality, spotlights just shining on the tables, no lampshades to diffuse the light at all, so the whole environment was horrible. The decor really sucks. It's a throwback to poor and no-taste; worn down wood panels, some horrible prints in the wood... sort of frames on the wood itself. It's like an unfinished basement. The service was so slow that even my wife had to concede and go over to the front desk to see if we could scare up a waiter. One finally did come. The waiter could not even begin to explain what one of the dishes was like (something like Me and the old man or something). All he could say in really broken English was "Brown Sauce" and "Good" The food was horrible; I tried their Sweet & Sour Pork to be on the safe side, it was rubbery, tough to chew with a heavy heavy heavy sauce that smothered the hell out of any flavor whatsoever. We hadn't been there in 10 years, it will be 100 before I come back. Stay away from this place, it is horrible!

I LOVE this place. I will admit, I don't usually vary my menu choice once I find something I like...so I've only tried the chicken curry and spring rolls....but, I've tried it many many times and love it! I am kind of picky about chicken curry, but their's is great. I order takeout at least once a week (it usually takes 10 to 15 minutes) and they are quick to get my food and let me pay so I can go. I have never eaten at the restaurant. I have tried a few bites of my husband's ginger beef and shrimp lost and the woods and they were both very good.

ugh! ok seriously. this is right around the corner from work so i'm like hey let's try something different for lunch. worst idea ever. a coworker and i ordered two totally different things and the only difference when we got our food was she had shrimp and i had tofu. however, both of our meals tasted like they had were from the frozen section at the grocery store, although i think the microwave stuff has more flavor. we eat anyway cause we're hungry and we'd ordered take out. and then.... after eating one of our clients starts telling us this story about how her friends were eating there and one of them pulled a cockroach out of their food. a freaking cockroach! puke city dude. never again. never.

What a disappointment! This is as far from being true Thai food as Mongolia is from Southern Argentina."Sugar" seems to be most prominent ingredient in the kitchen and when we talked to a member of the staff, their comment was that this is what the local palate is requesting. Having lived in Southeast Asia for six years, we definitely do not recommend this restaurant in case you are looking for the real thing.

Pretty darn good Pad Thai, I must say but not much of it on the plate. I also had a soup that had chicken with coconut milk and thickly sliced mushrooms. The mushrooms we tossed in the soup raw and cold at the last minute which created a texture that made you wish the mushrooms were at least steamed in the soup longer. We had an appetizer that had tempura style fried seafood, shrimp, soft shell crab and vegetables but the tempura was heavy and lacked the softness of good tempura batter. There is a mix of American style table and traditional Thai floor seating with pillows but everyone was in chairs. The decor is dark and yellowish with dark wood walls and sort of dreary. Yes I would go back and try some other selections on their very interesting menu. Service was good, friendly and attentive but there was a language barrier since the waiter knew little English.

  • Effie C.

I come here pretty often for lunch since it's down the street from the office. I always order the pad thai with fried tofu and while it doesn't rock my world as much as Moon's, it's still pretty damn good. The staff is attentive and pretty helpful and I don't want to offend anyone because I have the maddest respect for immigrants trying to make an honest living but the language barrier can be very challenging and that's not so great when you are ordering food and have questions or specifications. I wouldn't even mention it if I didn't think they were a little rude about it sometimes. I'm also bummed that they NEVER have the wine I want. Literally every single time! They're all "sorry, we're all out". The first time that happened, I settled for the other choice of sauvignon blanc, and even though it was a couple of bucks more expensive, they charged me for the one I had originally ordered, so that was cool. I didn't get that same hook up again, though :( I dunno, I don't think I'd go out of my way to eat here. It's close, it's convenient, prices are reasonable, and the food's alright. I guess it's worth a shot if you're deep in the Gables and need to satisfy a gnarly Thai food craving.

  • Nicole M.

good but i feel like they could do better. we had the lunch specials which come with soup or salad. the salad is just some lettuce with dressing on it and the soup was a wonton soup which i guess i thought was really a chinese thing. I would have much rather had a spoonful of tom yum gai than a bowl of wonton... at a thai restaurant anyway. the pad thai with chicken and shrimp was very good. the red curry chicken was even better and i resisted drinking the sauce straight out of the bowl. skip the accompanying cold dry spring roll. it's far more satisfying to break the calorie bank on their thai iced tea.

    (3)
  • Michael A.

Surprisingly good Thai food and reasonably priced if you go at lunchtime. I think it was $10.95 per person or something. If I was paying the dinner prices I'd probably be disappointed too, as the decor looks like a 1970s accounting office.

Thanks

Last night Sunday December 01 we had dinner in this place we had appetizer and when I was starting to eat 2 Cockroaches walked on the table I cover one with a glass then I told the server was a Cockroach there he knew what was happening but he play the game to be stupid then we move the table and when we were moving another Cockroach in the same table we were customers for many years then we lost the appetite the owner knowing what happened because he was in front of us did not offer anything not even a discount he just play to be fool and saying that he has cockroach in his house too !!!

Been to Thailand before. Establishing ethos. I had pad thai. First time at this place. Not bad. Good presentation. They speak Thai too. Cool. Not many thai restaurants in Miami but I would eat here again.

Having lived in Southeast Asia for six years, we definitely do not recommend this restaurant in case you are looking for the real thing.

so this was my first thai restaurant i've tried in Miami.

  • Michael A.

Surprisingly good Thai food and reasonably priced if you go at lunchtime. I think it was $10.95 per person or something. If I was paying the dinner prices I'd probably be disappointed too, as the decor looks like a 1970s accounting office.

I moved to SF and one of the things I miss the most is Bangkok Bangkok's pad thai! I used to go a lot during lunch since I worked close by. They are quick, I wouldn't call them friendly... but the place is nice and clean and the food really great.
